Overview
The Chart Tile puts one chart on an Entity Explorer page — “Tasks by Status”, for example. A rule decides when the tile appears and sets its starting properties. From there you can change those properties on the tile itself.
It draws from the same chart primitives the Report view uses.
Adjusting the chart on the tile
Click the cog on the tile to open its menu.
| Setting | What it does |
|---|---|
| Title | Rename the chart, or turn the title off. |
| Chart | Which primitive to draw. Any chart in the library is available here. |
| Data shape | Group by a field — the menu lists the fields you have — then choose how to aggregate it. The menu adapts as you pick, so the options follow what you’ve chosen so far. |
| Palette | Standard colors from the existing library, plus graduated palettes for charts with many series. |
| Size | Small, medium, or large. |
| Legend | Left, right, or off. Turned off, the chart draws its labels along the bottom instead. |
| Theme | Light or dark. |
Changes made on the tile don’t save to the server yet. They apply while you’re working. The rule behind the tile is what persists.
Data shape is the setting that decides whether a chart is worth looking at. Most of these charts want numbers, and a count of things won’t always give them what they need — see Chart primitives.
Primitives in the Summary tile
Chart primitives aren’t limited to this tile. They work in the Summary tile too, so you can drop a chart into a summary rather than adding a tile beside it.
Configuration
The rule behind the tile is configured in the admin. The exact keys aren’t documented yet.
